What is PRP Hair Restoration?

Many men and women experience hair loss or thinning at some point in their lives. This can challenge confidence and self-esteem, but several effective solutions can help restore hair.

We offer Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy at Sophie Gill Aesthetics. PRP uses your own blood platelets to accelerate scalp healing, helping to encourage head health and stimulate hair regrowth. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for hair restoration is a non-surgical treatment that uses a patient’s own blood to encourage new hair growth and improve the thickness and health of existing hair. This innovative treatment uses the body’s natural healing processes to stimulate hair follicles.

Platelets are a type of blood cell that helps cell repair and tissue regeneration. When injected into the scalp, PRP therapy can stimulate hair follicles and may also help reduce inflammation and improve blood flow to the scalp.

What to Expect From PRP Hair Therapy

PRP therapy involves using your own blood to stimulate hair growth. The procedure takes 45 to 60 minutes.

  • A small amount of blood is removed from your arm and collected in a test tube.
  • A centrifuge rapidly spins the blood to separate the platelets from other blood cells.
  • A local numbing agent is applied to the scalp to minimise discomfort during the procedure.
  • The platelet-rich plasma is returned to the scalp using tiny needles, usually in a grid-like pattern, to cover select areas of the scalp where hair loss is an issue.
